    I was talking with a gentleman in a coffee shop today (yes, people still do that) about the economy and business. We were discussing how people are dealing with a great deal of unease over the economic situation. People are moving from the Western US to places like Texas in large numbers.Being in Arizona, whatever happens in California tends to roll over our state about a year later.

    The pioneering magazine JPG Magazine is closing it’s doors officially on January 5th. Unfortunately, they couldn’t make a go of it. Between the slumping economy, costs of production, lack of investors, and other various factors it just didn’t work out.It’s too bad, really, because the magazine was quite good. The quality of the articles, the photo essays, and the overall look and feel of the magazine was just what every photographer or designer needed.

  • Microsoft Releases Official Zune Fix

    Yesterday, 30GB Zune users woke up to a world of pain as their Zunes died. Apparently, the Zune’s internal clock was incapable of handling leap years. Fortunately, Microsoft was on the case and responded quickly with these instructions on how to fix your Zune:The Zune fix (outlined below) will work at 7am ET January 1, 2009. Microsoft says it will also issue a fix for the device so that this problem won’t re-occur the next leap year, in 2012.
  • Modesto Police Kill Samurai

    I lived in Modesto, CA for several years. Strange things occur their quite frequently and unfortunately the town has a reputation that goes back several decades. Way back when, reputable businessmen on their way to/from Sacramento could stop in Modesto to hire “comfort ladies” to rest their weary bones.Now, this past Sunday, Modesto police shot and killed a samurai sword wielding man downtown on the corner of 10th street and K street.

  • No More Tuesday Mail Delivery?

    In another sign of the troubling economic times that we are in the US Post Office is again broaching the subject of going to five days a week for delivery. Since the 1980’s we have had six day a week delivery. However, with the steady decline in volume happening faster then rate increases can offset it the Postal Service needs to find a way to cut costs.
