  1. just installed cs4 design premium on vista ultimate 64 bit system and getting the same thing – I will be calling into Adobe tomorrow to see what the problem is and let you know what I find out.

  2. Open your registry and find under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Adobe.Illustrator. If you get an error message when you select that key, right click and look at the permissions screen. For some unknown reason, my registry permissions were stuffed and I had to reset them all using the SubInAcl script someone on the Adobe forums pointed you to.
Interestingly though, I received errors galore when I used my username in that script but no errors when I kept it as YOURUSERNAME.
Hopefully this helps you out. It helped me get rid of that annoying error message.

  6. Same problem here on Vista Ultimate 64 bit system. Can’t find any mention of it on Adobe forums.

  7. To correct this problem, right-click on the Illustrator icon…select Properties…Compatability tab…check the box under “Run As Administrator”. This will solve this problem. I was having the same error, Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. I no longer get this error message.
