With the Christian Science Monitor giving up it’s daily circulation in exchange for focusing on it’s online properties and foreign bureaus does this signal the first domino? With rumors abounding about other papers in deep financial pain could there be more announcements in the near future?I suppose another big question is that will anyone care? An associate of mine who is an editor for a local paper once confided in me that for every subscriber who dies there is no one to take their place. The younger the person, the less likely they will subscribe to a newspaper. The fact is, I don’t even read the free Wednesday paper that shows up on my doorstep each week.
